Housing benefits

If you struggle to pay rent and Council Tax, you may be entitled to help.

There are many benefits that you may be entitled to.

Sick or disabled?

You may qualify for one or more of the following benefits:
Statutory Sick Pay, Employment Support Allowance (this replaced Incapacity benefit from October 2008), Industrial Injuries benefit, Attendance Allowance and Disability Living Allowance.

If you care for someone who is sick or disabled, you may be entitled to Carer’s Allowance.

Low income?

You may be entitled to one or more of the following benefits:
Jobseeker’s Allowance, Income Support, Pension Credit, Tax Credits, Housing benefit and Council Tax benefit. You may also be entitled to grants and interest-free loans from the Social Fund.

Pregnant?

You may be entitled to Statutory Maternity pay or Maternity Allowance and when your baby is born you may be entitled to Child benefit and also Sure Start Maternity Grant.

There are other benefits available such as Retirement Pension and bereavement benefits.
